WHO declared the main ingredient in medical cannabis nonaddictive and nontoxic

19 February, 2018

On 10 November 2017, the World Health Organization Expert Committee on Drug Dependence (ECCD) issued a statement in which recommends not cataloging cannabidol (CBD) as a psychoactive drug, since -according to the entity- when the CBD has a therapeutic use there is no risk of dependence or intoxication.

As result, WHO suggests that CBD shouldn’t be included in the international control, because there’s no need of restriction or prohibition for CBD specific purposes (such as medical treatments and research), so it must be a topic left to each nation individual autonomy and outside the international agenda.

The ECDD will made a fuller review of cannabidiol preparations to May 2018, when the committee will undertake a comprehensive review of cannabis and its related substances.
