OlarteMoure began operations on July 14, 2003, when Carlos R. Olarte decided to leave his professional practice at an international law firm in Bogota, in order to shape new horizons that would allow him to provide their clients with better and more efficient IP legal services. Likewise, in 2004, after various years in the public sector ending as Patent and Trademark Commissioner, Juan G. Moure joined OlarteMoure.
Thanks to the trust that many companies deposited in OlarteMoure’s founding partners, an excellent work group was rapidly formed, not only in patents and plant breeders’ rights, but also in trademarks, unfair competition, regulatory law, copyrights and other areas, which currently allows us to offer a complete portfolio of IP and related legal services.
On July 2003, OlarteMoure’s initial team was comprised of by 7 people. In 2020, OlarteMoure has a team of more than one hundred people, with six partners, five area directors, eight managers, twenty three coordinators and more than fifty associates. In order to support this growth and for our clients’ benefit, in 2010 we inaugurated our new and modern offices located in two large architectural heritage homes in the traditional La Merced neighborhood in downtown Bogota. In addition to its Bogota office, the firm has offices in Medellin ,Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cali and Tokyo Japan.
Heeding our clients’ needs in the region, and beyond having a broad network of agents around the world, we had a leading role in the creation of a tight-knit Alliance in Latin America with the following firms: Fernández-Dávila & Bueno, in Perú (contact: Carlos Fernández-Dávila); UrquidiRojas, in Bolivia (contact: Edwin Urquidi); Larreátegui Meythaler & Zambrano, in Ecuador (contact: José Meythaler and Margarita Zambrano); D’Empaire Reyna Abogados y Citemark, in Venezuela (contacts: José Valentín González and Sebastián González, respectively); Mackenna, Irarrázaval, Cuchacovich & Paz Abogados, in Chile (contact: Rodrigo Marré); and Bufete Morera & Morera, in Costa Rica (contacts: Zayde Chahín y Néstor Morera).
