On 13 June 2019, the Colombian senate approved a bill aimed at providing employee benefits to Colombian actors. Said law looks to formalize the performing arts profession in order to promote and create more employment opportunities for those currently acting or wanting to practice the profession.
The bill intends to create a performing artist register and imposes an obligation to the state of fostering training and education programs in performing arts.
With senate approval, congress must now vote before the President can sign the bill.
