The Superintendent of Industry and Commerce, Andrés Barreto, commented on the upcoming changes within the entity. With these changes the trademark and patent office seeks to review sanctions, prevention programs and the creation of new divisions.
Specifically, he mentioned that Law 1340 of 2009 was worth revising given he considers that the law deserves revising with respect to fines, Internationally, sanctions are set according to the percentage of company assets or the percentage of profit perceived from criminal conduct, and not a fixed amount, such as minimum legal wages in force.
