Warner Music signs contract with digital character

Warner Music Central Europe has taken a groundbreaking step by offering its first record deal to a digital character developed with artificial intelligence assistance called Noonoouri. This digital avatar has released its first single titled “Dominoes” in collaboration with German DJ Alle Farben. The character’s voice was based on the voice of a real singer but modified to give it its own distinctive sound. In terms of compensation, the songwriters and musicians involved in the song will receive royalties and portions of the royalties, following the traditional music industry model. This marks a milestone in the music industry, as it is the first time that a record label has signed a contract involving this type of characters, raising legal questions that have not yet been resolved by copyright law.
