Universal Music Group and TikTok have announced a new licensing agreement that will mark a milestone in the music industry and benefit UMG artists, songwriters and labels. The agreement will allow UMG’s music to return to TikTok’s global community of more than one billion users.

The agreement centers on a strategic collaboration between the two brands, with the goal of helping UMG artists and songwriters reach their full creative and commercial potential. TikTok will use its technology, marketing and promotional capabilities to offer better remuneration to UMG songwriters and artists, as well as new opportunities for their recordings and songs.

As part of the agreement, both organizations will work on new monetization opportunities and campaigns to support UMG artists across all genres and territories globally. TikTok is also committed to investing resources in artist-centric tools and responsibly developing AI in the music industry, protecting human creativity.

As part of the agreement, both organizations will collaborate on the development of innovative tools that benefit UMG artists, including enhanced access to data and analytics, as well as integrated ticketing capabilities. In addition, they will work together to ensure that the development of AI in the music industry protects human creativity and the economies that flow to artists and songwriters.
