Alexander obtained a B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá, Colombia) in 2000, where his thesis was awarded a cum laude mention. He later received a M.Sc. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with an emphasis in pharmaceutical technology- from the Université de Montréal (Montréal, Canada) in 2006, where his research work was classified among the top 15% of the faculty. In March 2015, Alexander received his law degree from Universidad Politécnico Grancolombiano (Bogotá, Colombia).

His professional practice focuses on patent prosecution and technical assistance in litigation. He actively participates in the drafting and preparation of patent applications, as well as the preparation of patent validity and infringement opinions. Alexander has expertise in the area of pharmaceutical and organic chemistry.

He began his professional career at the Colombian Patent Office (Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio) where he practiced as a Patent Examiner in the pharmaceutical arts for more than 3 years. Later, he joined Clarke, Modet & Co – Colombia, where he was responsible for the patent department activities. Alexander joined OlarteMoure in 2006.

Alexander has been invited by the World Intellectual Property Organization as a patent expert to participate in international training courses and also at conferences and seminars in Colombia specialized in various topics of intellectual property.
