Colombian Antitrust Authority fines “IPS UNIVERSITARIA” for the sale of medicines above the maximum prices established
On 10 May 2018, the Colombian Antitrust Office (SIC in Spanish) fined fined the Healthcare Institution (IPS in Spanish) IPS UNIVERSITARIA for selling during a year 10 medicines exceeding the maximum prices established by law.
The IPS UNIVERSITARIA sold medicines that exceed 2,300% the maximum value allowed by the National Government; some of the medicines sold were treatments of HIV, Diabetes, Parkinson’s, Schizophrenia, organ transplants, etc.
The imposed sanction amounts to COP$ 589 million (USD $ 200.000).
