With the entry into force of Resolution 1953/2017 -issued by the General Secretariat of the Andean Community- the restriction and prohibition (according to each case) of certain ingredients for antibacterial soaps came into force.

Specifically, the resolution restricts the use of Triclosan and Triclocarban according to the Regulations of the European Union (EC No. 1223/2009, EU No. 358/2014 and its amendments), as well as bans the use of an extensive list of ingredients in soaps formulation (such as clofucarban, fluorosan, hexachlorophene and iodophors, among others).

Products actually not complying with the new provision will have until 9 October 2018 to exhaust their stocks.  Additionally, the Sanitary Registers of products that do not comply with the aforementioned cannot be renewed.
