On 5 January 2018, the Peruvian Office for Competition Affairs (Indecopi) sanctioned the City of Tacna for acts of unfair competition, with a fine close to USD 433,700.
The sanction responds to a complaint filed by the company Tracto Latino in August 2018 against the city, following a tender for the sale of subgrade aggregates to the city of Tacna, which offered, in addition to aggregates, machinery rental services, sale of fuel at its gas stations, and soil and asphalt laboratory services. Consequently, the city’s small entrepreneurs were affected, given that the city offered lower prices and was not subject to the permits that a private company must comply with.
