The Financial Superintendence of Colombia issued Circular 14 of 2024, highlighting the importance of compliance with legal obligations related to financial consumer protection and the right to habeas data protection. The Circular establishes procedures for authorization, reporting, and rectification of financial information, as well as handling of complaints and habeas data-related tutelage actions.
Additionally, supervised entities are urged to adjust their procedures to ensure full compliance with Law 1266 of 2008, i.e., the Special Data Protection Regime, in response to the increase in complaints of fraud and habeas data in 2023. This document serves as a guide to promote a culture of well-being and satisfaction among financial consumers, ensuring respect for fundamental rights of access to information in the financial sector.
