Amidst Colombian-German talks, Germany has shown interest in Colombia’s reindustrialization process. Accordingly, several MoUs have been signed aimed at knowledge transfer and financial support.

This process is mainly oriented towards “decarbonization” and is intended to be achieved through efforts in the development of the green hydrogen sector, which is comprised of low-emission energies such as wind or water, which would enable Colombia to transform and position itself as a benchmark exporter of clean energy.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and the Ministry of Mines and Energy are seeking competitive costs in the domestic market as of 2030, and in the international market as of 2050. These government efforts will team up with local companies such as Ecopetrol, Grupo de Energía de Bogotá and Promigas S.A. In other words, all parties are committed to boost the country’s industrial production with renewable energies and decarbonization.

It is noteworthy to highlight that this transition should focus on job generation and the insertion of local communities to achieve an ideal reindustrialization, as well as on the support in the transfer of technology and knowledge, and long-term financing.
