María Alejandra Pava received her law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota, Colombia) in 2010. In that same year, she completed her minor degree in Legal English at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. In 2013, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property at the University of Alicante (Alicante, Spain) and later, she completed the advanced course on Intellectual Property Management of WIPO in 2015.
She began her professional career at the firm Pinzón Pinzón & Asociados, as a junior associate in charge of drafting legal briefs in the field of intellectual property and accompaniment in client counseling in 2008. Then, in 2011 she joined the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce as a lawyer in the appeals’ area of the Industrial Property Delegate. After her Master’s in Spain, she worked as a lawyer for one year in the area of Foreign Trademarks of the renowned Spanish firm Elzaburu (Madrid, Spain). Upon her return to Colombia in 2014, she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an intellectual property adviser in the Directorate of Economic, Social and Environmental Affairs. In 2015 she returned to the firm Pinzón Pinzón & Asociados as a senior associate, handling the intellectual property portfolio of the clients assigned to her.
She currently serves as Trademark´s Director at OlarteMoure.
