On 20 and 21 February 2019, Fox Sports will hold the first anti-piracy workshop dedicated specifically to sports in Latin America. The workshop will take place in Mexico City and will have the presence of authorities and regulators. The focus of the workshop will be to reduce the specific impact that this problem has on soccer, in order to promote a legal, protected and secure market.
The motivation for the workshop was based on the impact of piracy in Latin America, which translates into annual losses in excess of USD 6.5 billion, which affects copyright, intellectual property, investment in telecom infrastructure, and equity and government revenue, given more than USD 1 billion is not collected in sales tax annually.
