On January 26, Colombia’s Food and Drug Authority (Invima) issued a statement with clarifications to the label depletion procedure in accordance with resolution 2492 of 2022 and emphasizes the following dates to be considered by the business community:

February 28, 2023: Deadline for filing applications to obtain authorization to deplete prior labels.

June 15, 2023: Resolution 2492 of 2022 becomes effective. Octagonal seals and sodium seals are mandatory from this date forward.

December 15, 2023: deadline to use adhesives adjusting all labeling to provisions found in resolutions 810 of 2021 and 2492 of 2022 (no authorization required).

June 14, 2024: deadline for previous labels to be used (with previous authorization to deplete)

June 15, 2024: date from which all domestic and imported food products marketed in Colombia must comply with nutritional and frontal warning labeling. Market withdrawal of the product will be required in case of non-compliance with technical labeling regulations

June 15, 2027: Deadline for compliance with Resolution 810 of 2021 regarding nutritional labeling, for products in returnable containers.
